You may have the need to create several vaults. This would be to:
Keep data completely separate. For example you may have vaults for separate departments or separate clients.
For security. Users with access to one vault can be denied access to another vault.
Archive data and keep it separate from production data.
Note that files cannot be shared between vaults. To transfer a file between vaults it needs to be retrieved from one vault using Get Latest Version or Get Previous Version and then checked into the second vault. The file history can’t be transferred.
Open the Autodesk Data Management Server Console. Start > All Programs > Autodesk > Autodesk Data Management > Autodesk Data Management Server Console 2010
Log In as an administrator.
Expand the browser, click on an existing vault and check where other vault data store is located. Normally you will want to keep all of your vault data together, so you will be looking to create the new vault with the file store in this location.
Right click on Vaults and select Create...
Enter the vault name. Do not use spaces in the name as this will cause problems running command line utilities. Select the file store location. Click OK to create the vault.
If you need the “Search for file content” in vault, right click on the vault and select Content Indexing Service.
Enable the Content Indexing Service and click OK.
Close the Autodesk Data Management Server Console.
