If you need to send your designs to another office and want to zip them up to a single file for convenience of emailing.
How To
To use a specific compression/Zip utility, you need to configure the WD.ENV file for this. Certain companies may maintain multiple ENV files, and you will need to set this up for each ENV file your organization uses. Use the following steps to locate your ENV file.
To locate your ENV file for modification: Right click on the active project and click on Settings.
In the Current Settings dialog box, locate the “AutoCAD Electrical environment settings file” entry and note the value. (e.g. D:\My Docs\Acade 2010\AeData\wd.env). Using Windows Explorer, navigate to the location found in step 2, and edit the ENV file using Notepad or WordPad.
Note: It is a good practice to make a copy of the original ENV file before you change it. You should also make sure not to change the formatting of the .ENV file, since this could potentially cause issues.
In the WD.ENV file, locate the WD_ZIP line in the list.
Edit the line to look something like the following: WD_ZIP,C:/Program Files (x86)/WinRAR/WinRAR.exe; full path/name for an alternate zipping utility.
Note: Your zip utility location may be different than the example. Also you will want to ensure you remove the “*” from the beginning of the line. The “*” comments out the line so it is not processed.
Get Zipped Now we are ready to zip our first project. Ensure that you are not active in any of the drawings. Most Zip utilities will give an error if the drawing is in use.
To zip a project: From the project manager, right click on the project you wish to zip, select Publish, then select Zip Project.
Click Do All or select the specific drawings you want to include.
Click OK.
At this point you need to decide if you would like to include the project database. (If you want to include the project database, click the checkbox before moving on.)
Browse to the location where you want to save the zip file. Click OK. The zip file will now be created in the location you selected.
