You would like to know how to transfer your Autodesk software license using the Online License Transfer Utility.

How To

The Online License Transfer allows standalone licenses to be moved between machines.
It can be used on 2010 and newer version products.
To transfer licenses, both the Source, and Target machine must have exactly the same software version and serial number installed.

For 2009 and prior, please see Using the Portable License Utility to Transfer your Autodesk License.
If your license is a network license, please see Borrowing A Network License, and Returning It Early.

Exporting a License using OLT | Importing a License using OLT

  • Start the Online License Transfer utility by selecting Start > All Programs > Autodesk > [Product & version] > License Transfer Utility (Figure 1).

  • The License Transfer Utility starts. Select "Sign In" (Figure 2).

  • If you already have an Autodesk User ID, then log in. If you are a new user, click "Create User ID Now" (Figure 3), and fill out your details.

  • Once you have logged in, the License Export dialog is displayed (Figure 4).
The default export type is "Private". This means that to import the license, you will need to log into the Autodesk Online License Transfer utility on your Target machine.
To make the license transfer "Public", tick the "Make the license available as a public import" checkbox. This will mean that anybody can log into the Online License Transfer utility, and as long as the serial numbers on Target and Source machine match, the license will import (so, a colleague can log in and import the license, for example).

  • Click Export.
    - a "Please wait while License is exported..." message is displayed.
  • Once the license has been exported, the Export Success dialog will display (Figure 5).

Once you have exported your license, you may import it onto any Source machine that shares the same Serial number on both Source and Target machine.

  • When you start your Autodesk software on your Target machine, you will be prompted with the following dialog stating that the license has been exported. Select "Import the License" (Figure 6).

  • Once you have logged in, the License Import dialog is displayed (Figure 9) and the online license transfter utility matches the serial number of the software on the Source machine to that of the exported license, importing automatically. A "Please wait while License is imported..." message displays.
