Autodesk Client Phishing Alert:
Autodesk recently received a number of complaints from people who received an email titled “Your Order No #XXXX - Autodesk Inc.”.
The email confirms order details and alerts the “customer” that their credit card will be debited by Autodesk, Inc. The email does not request any personal details, but it does attach a file containing “purchase information”. The recipients appear to have been selected randomly – typically, they have no connection at all with Autodesk.
These emails are not connected with Autodesk, Inc. or any of its affiliates. They appear to be sent for the purpose of either downloading malware (viruses and other software intended to compromise computer security) or causing the recipient to reveal sensitive information.
If you are aware of anyone receiving these emails, or any other unsolicited emails that appear to come from Autodesk, please make sure that the person:
· Does not respond to the email
· Does not follow any of the links in the email
· Does not open any attachments to the email
· Does not provide any credit card or account information
· Carefully checks their credit card statement for any unusual transactions
· Deletes the email from their system
We have reported the matter to the ACCC and encourage recipients to report the scam through the SCAMwatch website Here
